ICEI-Business Confidence Index
As a leading indicator of industrial performance, the ICEI detects shifts in industrial production trends. The data required for building the ICEI index are collected in tandem with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Survey. Confidence indices are made available for three company sizes (small, medium and large), for the five Brazilian geographic regions, and for the different sectors of the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and construction industries.
ICEI falls again as industry completes 21 months without confidence
The Industrial Business Confidence Index (ICEI) fell 1.4 points in September 2026, from 46.3 points to 44.9 points, remaining below the 50-point threshold and the historical average of 53.2 points. With this result, industry completes 21 consecutive months without confidence.
