Evaluation of Jair Bolsonaro administration
January 22, 2021 - President Jair Bolsonaro’s popularity dropped between September and December, but is still higher than in December 2019. The percentage of those surveyed who rate the government as excellent or good edged down from 40% to 35%, while the percentage of those surveyed who rate the government bad or terrible increased, at the limit of the margin of error of the survey, from 29% to 33%.

Industry confidence drops in January
January 22, 2021 - The Business Confidence Index (ICEI) dropped 2.2 points in January 2021 when compared to December 2020, amongst an uncertainty scenario and with the end of government emergency relief measures that were supporting families and enterprises. Even so, the index remained above and distant from the 50-points dividing line, indicating that Industry entrepreneurs remain confident.

January 21, 2021 - Construction industry continues to grow. Activity is increasing, which, in turn, has been making employment recover as well. Business confidence of construction companies grew in November while expectations índices remained steady, but optimistic.

January 21, 2021 - Industrial activity grew once again in November, with a new rise in employment. The industry remains operating at higher levels than those that are usual for the month of November, what has been happening since September.

Industrial Indicators
Industry continues to grow in October
January 19, 2021 - Industrial activity continued to grow in October, although at a slower pace than in September. In general, Brazilian Manufacturing industry has already recovered from the fall caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Real sales, capacity utilization, hours worked and employment all supassed the level recorded in February, although year to date figures are still negative for these variables.

ICEI - Industrial Sectors
All industry sector remains confident in December
January 19, 2021 - The Business Confidence Index from December 2020 demonstrates that all 30 industry sectors the research analyzed remained confident. It is the fifth consecutive month of disseminated confidence among all industrial sectors. Furthermore, in December the confidence indicator grew in 18 of the 30 sectors.

The Unit Labor Cost fell against competitors
January 18, 2021 - In 2019, the unit labor cost (ULC) in the Brazilian Industry fell by 3.6% compared to the average ULC in the country’s main trading partners, according to the indicator of effective unit labor costs, measured in real US dollars.

Consumer Confidence Index
Consumer Confidence recovers in December, but remains low
January 18, 2021 - In December, consumer confidence slightly recovered when compared to September, but it’s still below the figure registered in December 2019. The consumers expectations keep falling for economic variables like unemployment and inflation, but keep improving in relation to the future perspective of personal income and intention to purchase major goods.
