ICEI-Business Confidence Index
As a leading indicator of industrial performance, the ICEI detects shifts in industrial production trends. The data required for building the ICEI index are collected in tandem with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Survey. Confidence indices are made available for three company sizes (small, medium and large), for the five Brazilian geographic regions, and for the different sectors of the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and construction industries.
The industry has been lacking confidence for 14 months
The Industrial Industrial Business Confidence Index (ICEI) registered a drop of 0.3 points in February 2026, falling from 48.5 points to 48.2 points. With this decline, the ICEI, which had risen and approached the 50-point mark in January, moved further from that level. Thus, 14 months of lack of confidence among industrial entrepreneurs have been completed.
