Fear Of Unemployment And Life Satisfaction

This publication presents the Fear of Unemployment Index (IMD) and the Life Satisfaction Index (ISV). These indicators have a national coverage and are calculated since 1999. The indicators are designed to capture the state of mind of the population at large to support forecasts of the evolution of household consumption. The data required to build the indicators are collected through a quarterly public opinion survey carried out by IBOPE Inteligência Institute.


Fear of unemployment increases between April and June

The fear of unemployment index edged up by 2.3 points between April and June, remaining above its historical average, while the index measuring life satisfaction of Brazilians fell by 0.5 points in relation to April.
