Consumer Confidence Index

The INEC Consumer Confidence Index is designed to capture trends in household consumption. The INEC was created by CNI in 1998 and is currently developed in partnership with Ibope Inteligência institute. The data required to build the indicator are collected through a monthly public opinion survey.

Consumer confidence falls again

The INEC index dropped from 48.4 points in April 2019 to 47.0 points in June. This is the second consecutive fall in the index, showing a decline in consumer expectations. Still, June’s result is above the historical average and the figure observed in the same period last year, though the effects of the truck driver’s strike in May of 2018 should be taken into consideration.
