ICEI-Business Confidence Index

As a leading indicator of industrial performance, the ICEI detects shifts in industrial production trends. The data required for building the ICEI index are collected in tandem with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Survey. Confidence indices are made available for three company sizes (small, medium and large), for the five Brazilian geographic regions, and for the different sectors of the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and construction industries.

Downtrend in confidence is interrupted

The Business Confidence Index (ICEI) stood at 56.9 points in June 2019, up by 0.4 points from May. The result breaks a four-month downward trend, during which the index fell by 8.2 points. The indicator is up by 2.4 points from its historical average and up by 7.3 points from the figure observed in June 2018 – when confidence was significantly affected by the truck drivers’ strike.
