ICEI-Business Confidence Index

As a leading indicator of industrial performance, the ICEI detects shifts in industrial production trends. The data required for building the ICEI index are collected in tandem with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Survey. Confidence indices are made available for three company sizes (small, medium and large), for the five Brazilian geographic regions, and for the different sectors of the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and construction industries.

Business confidence continues to recover

The Business Confidence Index (ICEI) rose from 41.2 points in June to 47.6 points in July, increasing by 6.4 points. This is the third increase in a row after the sharp drop recorded in April. Albeit closer, the indicator is still below the 50-point dividing line, denoting lack of confidence among industrial entrepreneurs.
