Fear Of Unemployment And Life Satisfaction

This publication presents the Fear of Unemployment Index (IMD) and the Life Satisfaction Index (ISV). These indicators have a national coverage and are calculated since 1999. The indicators are designed to capture the state of mind of the population at large to support forecasts of the evolution of household consumption. The data required to build the indicators are collected through a quarterly public opinion survey carried out by IBOPE Inteligência Institute.


Fear of unemployment declines between June and September

The Fear of Unemployment Index dropped by 1.2 points between June and September but remains above its historical average. The Life Satisfaction Index in turn grew by 1.6 points, getting closer to its historical average.
