Brazil Competitiveness Report

The report assesses the determining factors of a country’s competitiveness. The Brazilian situation is evaluated in comparison with the situation of a selected set of countries. The selection is based on the similarity between these countries and Brazil in relation to socioeconomic characteristics, development stage, international position and competition in third markets.

Brazil advances in the overall ranking, but remains in the bottom third

Brazil advanced for the first time in the overall ranking of the Brazil Competitiveness Report, moving from 17th to 16th, surpassing Peru. Two main reasons explain the progress: first, the country's improvement in factors such as Financing, Taxation and Business Environment. The second reason is the greater impact of the pandemic in countries like Peru, on the Labor and Macroeconomic Environment factors.
